If you are have never stepped into a gym or don’t want to go through the hassle of it, here are quick and easy workouts to engage in at the convenience of your home.

Indoor

1. Planks

Planks look easy enough to do, but when you actually try to do it, well doing the planks right is not going to be easy. It’s a workout that will let you engage your entire core. Place your hands directly under your shoulders and keep your toes on the floor. Keep your head in line with your body and hold the position for 10 seconds and gradually increase the length you’re holding the position. There are different variations to try out, for beginners sitting on the knees advisable.

2. Superman Pose

Have you seen Superman flying? Well, this is the same thing you’re going to do, but, on the ground. Good to tone the glutes and strengthen the lower back. First off, lie down on the floor, face down. Extend your arms and raise them at the same time as your legs. Hold the position for 2 – 5 seconds and release. Repeat again.

3. Assisted Squats

Start off by sitting on the edge of a chair. Bend your knees to 90 degrees and extend your arms. Keep your muscles tight and elevate your body to a standing position. Once you master assisted squats, try out without the chair.

4. Push-ups

For a beginner, doing the usual push-ups can be a tiresome and sometimes demotivating affair. So instead, try wall push-ups instead. Start by standing next to a wall, take one or two steps away from it. Next, put your hands out against the wall and lean. The next step is to bend your elbows and press your upper body toward the wall. Push yourself back and repeat.

5. Shadowboxing

If you’re not into Zumba or working out in front of people, this exercise is an ideal one. You don’t need any pieces of equipment as well. It’s simple as throwing punches but, not at anything solid of course, you will be throwing air punches. Once you take the posture of a boxer and throw air punches alternating your arms, you have mastered shadow boxing.
